Neuroplastics
A decomposed immersive performance.
Started as a graduate work for Master of Arts degree. Never finished and never should
Our project explores the intricate workings of the brain. It originated as a master’s thesis at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (UMFC) in Warsaw and evolved into a major performance, premiering in Minsk on March 12, 2020.

As spectators entered, they were greeted by “orderlies” who provided shoe covers and disinfected their hands, setting the stage for a journey into the brain’s operating room. This meticulous attention to sterility was a symbolic preparation for delving into the brain's inner workings. Interestingly, a week after our premiere, all venues in Minsk closed due to Covid-19, making hand disinfection a commonplace necessity rather than just a theatrical element.
The performance began with the audience stepping onto the stage, immediately immersing them in the action occurring throughout various parts of the brain. Utilizing quadraphonic sound output, we positioned speakers in each of the four corners, each emitting distinct sounds corresponding to different brain regions. For instance, near the right hemisphere, the sound was prominent, while other areas were subdued or silent. This innovative use of sound allowed the audience to traverse a dynamic auditory landscape, enhancing their immersive experience of the brain’s complexity.

This performance was more than a show; it was a sensory journey into the mind, blending scientific curiosity with artistic expression.
